Guide to The Scholars Ball
Ah yes, the Scholars Ball. A night filled with ecstasy and exhaustion. But it really just depends on how you approach it, but even if there are no right or wrongs to how you spend your night at the ball, this guide will set your priorities as to how you can make the most out of those 4 hours you’ll be there!
1. Take a good rest before the ball. Junior or senior, there is probably still some time allotted to the
schedule where you can hit the hay for one hour. Take this time to relax as most likely you just had a hectic day of the bowl and alpaca adoption. (And maybe cheering for the performers too!)
2. Wear comfortable clothing. I cannot stress this enough. I wore heels for my first ball and I didn’t
realise that it was a dance party, not a formal ball. Find something still semi-formal yet comfortable to dance, walk around and party in.
3. Take breaks between songs. We get it, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to celebrate academic learning with people who enjoy it just like you do. But for the love of God, sit down and drink water. Sit back and watch other scholars dance while you’re at it. Albeit we support getting in the moment, we also support health!
4. Have fun! As we said, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and get yourself out there! You just completed days and even months of training, practice and studying and it’s only fitting for you to celebrate!
5. Capture memories. Take out your phone, record every moment of it! Compile them and watch it to relive your times.
